Celtic are believed to be eyeing the Birmingham City midfielder but it will take a significant offer to sign him.
It will be very interesting to see what kind of moves Celtic end up making in the summer transfer window in an attempt to strengthen their squad. This version of it might have completed its cycle already and has grown stagnant.
As a result, the Hoops are struggling to get convincing wins even in domestic games. Just look at the recent result against Hibernian.
Celtic needed a late winner, off the bench from Kelechi Iheanacho, to get past a 10-man Hibernian side that had seen a red card early in the matchup.
This was a great chance for Celtic to close down the goal difference with Hearts. But they failed and got themselves another narrow victory by a one-goal margin, which is what they have been doing on most outings this season.
So, this team needs an injection of quality this summer. And it looks like a Birmingham City midfielder, currently on loan at Hearts, has managed to catch their attention with his performances in the second half of the campaign.
According to the Daily Record, Celtic have put Marc Leonard firmly on their summer radar. The club have upped their interest in the Birmingham City midfielder.
Leonard has been a standout in the middle of the park for Hearts as they look to win the league against all odds and expectations. In 12 games, he has managed to score once and provide three assists as well.
Signing him would not be an easy task though. In fact, it has been claimed that it would take a significant seven-figure deal for Birmingham City to consider parting ways with the midfielder, who still has a couple of years left on his current contract.
Interest in the midfielder is particularly curious when it is hard to predict what Celtic's midfield will look like come next season.
Reo Hatate looks almost certain to leave after he has been left on the bench as an unused substitute in four of the previous five games.
There have been rumours linking Benjamin Nygren with a move away as well after an excellent debut season with the Hoops that has seen him score 20 goals already.
Paulo Bernardo has not played much at all and it would be understandable if he is seeking the exit door.
Arne Engels is believed to be drawing interest from England and even European giants like Borussia Dortmund.
Even Callum McGregor's future is not certain. He has been linked with a reunion with Brendan Rodgers.
