Celtic have finally been handed some good news as they head into an important run of games, with the league title race still open.
Celtic have a lot of problems at the moment. A lot of them have been created as a result of how the club has been run in recent times. That being said, one cannot deny that luck has often not been on their side either.
Injuries to key players have clearly had an adverse effect on their season. Jota will not kick a ball in this campaign. Cameron Carter-Vickers has missed most of it. Alistair Johnston has had two separate lengthy spells out injured. Kelechi Iheanacho has dealt with constant fitness issues as well. And there have been plenty of other issues along the way.
So, Celtic have not had much luck on that front. But for a change, it looks like they have avoided one during this international break, which will come as welcome news.
We had previously reported on how Auston Trusty had gone down late in USA's game against Portugal and had to be subbed off in the 91st minute.
Naturally, fans had been left worried that Trusty might have picked up an injury. The player himself was asked about it on X recently.
Fortunately, Trusty ruled out any kind of injury and confirmed that he was just dealing with cramps.
That will come as a relief to Celtic fans. Trusty has been one of the club's best performers this season and the last thing the Hoops need is the American centre-back picking up any kind of injury, even a minor one, heading into an important run of games that will decide the outcome of the league title race.
Celtic's defence has been shaky throughout the course of the season. There are days when they have done well, like keeping a clean sheet away at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup quarter-final. But then, there have also been days when they have not been able to deal with the pressure and conceded cheap goals.
If Celtic are to have any chance of winning the league this season, they will need to be defensively solid for their last seven remaining Premiership games in this ongoing campaign. They will need Trusty in the heart of their backline for that.
Even then, it might not be enough. As things stand, both Hearts and the Rangers are ahead of them. The title race is no longer in Celtic's hands and not only do they need to be perfect from here on forward, but they also need to depend on other results as well, which is a position you never want to be in.
