Celtic have been handed a much-needed triple injury boost right before the game against Dundee this weekend.
The international break has come and gone, and it is time to get back into club action. Celtic are in a tough spot at the moment. With just seven league games to go, they are five points behind Hearts and two behind the Rangers.
So, even if they are perfect for the remainder of the league campaign, they might not end up as champions. That is a hard position to be in.
And considering how shaky and inconsistent Celtic have been throughout this season, it is hard to expect them to be perfect between now and the end of the campaign, to be very honest.
They will need to try though. And coming out of the international break, Celtic have been handed some positive news.
Arne Engels and Colby Donovan were pictured at Lennoxtown in the morning. That is great news for Celtic, who have dealt with injury problems all season.
Celtic need Donovan at right-back more than ever right now as there are serious doubts about whether Julian Araujo will be available again this season or not. Considering he was only on loan, we might have seen the last of the Mexican international in a green-and-white jersey. He has gone back to Bournemouth to undergo treatment on his injury.
On the other hand, Engels has been out of action for a while and Celtic have clearly missed him in the middle of the park. Fortunately, it is believed that he could be in contention for the Dundee game this weekend. If so, that is gonna be a boost for Martin O'Neill's team, who could do with his quality at the moment, even if off the bench.
There is also a third piece of good news for Celtic coming out of the international break. While away with the United States team, Auston Trusty had started against Portugal and put in a solid performance that earned him a lot of plaudits.
He had gone down late in the game though and had to be subbed off in the 91st minute. That had raised concerns that he had injured himself.
Fortunately, Trusty would later clarify on social media that he had just been dealing with cramps. The American defender was back in training this morning as well and he is expected to be available against Dundee.
Now, it is up to the Hoops to go on and get all three points this weekend. There is nothing else they can do at the moment, as they have to depend on other results as well.
