Celtic have been named the favourites to sign the £13 million-rated player who seemingly favours a move to Parkhead.
Celtic might have won their opening game of the campaign but the performance proved that a lot of their problems still remain in place.
Only two new additions have been made so far. And unfortunately, neither Camilo Duran nor Kasper Hogh impressed in their competitive debuts for Celtic.
It was Duran starting on the right flank on the day. For someone who had looked so impressive through the middle in pre-season, that might not be the right role.
Celtic need to sign a specialist winger. And there might be some good news in that regard, as they are leading the race to sign one ahead of city rivals Rangers.
Celtic leading race to sign Fares Ghedjemis
According to Football Insider, Celtic are currently ahead of the Rangers in the race to sign Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis,
That is in line with what CeltsAreHere have reported, stating that Ghedjemis is now open to joining Celtic and would favour a move to Parkhead over the Rangers.
Of course, that does not mean that a move is definitely going to happen. On the contrary, Frosinone now believe that the chance to play in Serie A could be enough to keep Ghedjemis this summer.
That is a dramatic shift from where things were earlier in the year. In fact, it is believed that a €6 million bid from Celtic had been accepted in January itself. But Ghedjemis chose to stay at Frosinone and guided them to Serie A promotion.

Unsurprisingly, Ghedjemis' transfer valuation has skyrocketed since then. And with Serie A football now on the table, Frosinone are in a position where they do not need to part ways unless they get an offer that meets their demands.
Recent reports have suggested that they might not be willing to let Ghedjemis go for below £13 million, which is 2.5 times more than what they were said to have accepted merely six months ago. That would be a record fee for Celtic, who recently broke it signing Hogh from Bodo/Glimt.
Both clubs have seen bids rejected recently. Celtic had made an offer in the region of £6 million. Rangers saw an £8 million bid turned down. So, it is clear that the Italian club are looking for more than that.

It remains to be seen if Celtic can find an agreement with Frosinone over the coming weeks. If not, they should turn their attention elsewhere rather than needlessly allowing this saga to drag on.
