The Premier League is the best in the world and it looks like one Celtic player has his heart set on moving to the English top flight.

Celtic's recruitment in recent times has come under heavy criticism and understandably so. It is the club's inability to replace their outgoing talent which has largely been the reason behind the squad's deterioration in quality over the last few years.

Most of the signings that Celtic have made over the last few years have not had the desired impact at Parkhead. Several have already moved on and left, while quite a few find themselves out on loan.

That does not mean that every signing has been a flop. Quite a few have worked as well. And the decision to bring in Benjamin Nygren from FC Nordsjaelland has to be one of them.

One mistake that Celtic often end up making is that they sign players out of form. So, it should not come as a surprise when these players fail to deliver upon joining the Glasgow giants. Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu are prime examples of this.

Nygren was a man in form at FC Nordsjaelland though. He had scored 28 goals over the previous two seasons for the club. And that has translated to Celtic quite well. He has scored 19 goals and provided 8 assists in his debut campaign for the Hoops.

Those are great numbers for anybody, but especially a midfielder. Unsurprisingly, his reputation has been enhanced and there are now rumours of a move away from Celtic already.

According to Football Insider, Nygren has got his heart set on a move to the Premier League. He is ready to test himself at the highest level. On the other hand, Celtic are under no pressure but will consider a transfer if a “big-money offer” is put on the table.

Nygren has actually been on the receiving end of some criticism lately. While his numbers are brilliant, his overall game has not impressed a section of the fanbase.

That criticism has come at a time when Nygren is going through a mini drought, having not scored in the last four league games. But one cannot forget that he had scored 10 in the 13 games before that.

Without Nygren's goals this season, Celtic would not even be in this title race. He deserves a lot more credit that he is getting from some at the moment.

That being said, there is room to improve. Let's hope he finds his best form over the next few weeks as Celtic aim to win the league and also the Scottish Cup. They will need the Swede at his best if that is to happen.

Also, let's hope he remains a Celtic player for a while longer. But with clubs like Manchester United being linked with the Swede, keeping him at Parkhead for long might be a difficult task.
