Martin O'Neill wants two strikers this summer and one of the club's targets is coming off a 15-goal campaign, including five in the Champions League.
There is a lot of uncertainty around Celtic at the moment. But one thing fans can be confident about is that the club will be signing a striker this summer.
At least one striker, there is the potential for more than that to be brought in. Daizen Maeda is expected to be on his way out this summer. He is not the only one either.
There has been some speculation around the future of Kelechi Iheanacho as well. There have been suggestions that Brazilian club Vasco da Gama were offered the chance to sign him and turned it down.
If both senior strikers did end up leaving, that would leave Celtic with only Callum Osmand. Now, we do rate the youngster very highly. But he is someone who is in the early phase of his career and might not be in a position to lead the line for the Hoops just yet.
So, it is only natural for Celtic to be on the lookout for fresh faces to add to their striker ranks. And it looks like a 24-year-old Colombian forward is on their radar.
According to The Scottish Sun, Martin O’Neill is set to sign at least two new strikers in this summer transfer window. Camilo Duran has emerged on Celtic’s radar.
Duran still has two years left on his Qarabag contract. They would want at least a club record £2 million transfer fee to part ways with the striker.
While that would be a club record fee for Qarabag, the figure should not exactly be a problem for Celtic.
Obviously, there are going to be question marks over whether Duran is capable of making the jump from the Azerbaijani league and making an impact at a club like Celtic.
It is worth mentioning though that Duran's record in the Champions League last season was excellent. He recorded five goals in 10 games in Europe's elite competition.
Those goals came against top opposition as well. He scored a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt and scored once each against Benfica, Ajax and Newcastle United.
So, it is already proven that he can perform at the highest level of club football. Celtic should not be overly concerned about his qualities as a result of that.
If you ask me, for a £2 million transfer fee, this feels like a bit of a no-brainer. Celtic should try to wrap a deal up as soon as possible before other clubs come calling for his services and potentially overtake the Hoops.
