Celtic have reached a verbal agreement over the midfielder's move, as he looks to turn around his career.

Celtic's recruitment over the last few years has come under heavy scrutiny. It had felt like the club had turned over a new leaf after the disaster that was the 20/21 campaign. They were swift and efficient with their transfer business during the Ange Postecoglou era. Even more importantly, they had an excellent success rate.

During that period of time, the club signed the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, Matt O'Riley, Carl Starfelt, Alistair Johnston, Josip Juranovic, Giorgos Giakoumakis, and several others within a short space of time.

A number of those players have left since then. Some have lost their form or are out injured. And unfortunately, Celtic's recruitment has taken several steps back since Postecoglou left, failing to find replacements.

As a result, the squad has been gradually weakened over time to the point that they are now struggling to compete with Scottish opponents and find themselves in third with just seven league games left to go.

Of course, the Hoops have tried. They have signed plenty of highly-rated youngsters, but on most occasions, it has not worked out.

According to TV2, Valerenga have now reached a verbal agreement with Celtic on a loan agreement for Odin Thiago Holm. It is said to last until the end of this year's season in Norway. The Norwegian midfielder is expected in Oslo on Tuesday to complete the deal.

There is no mention of any option or obligation to buy being included in the deal, but it would not be a surprise if news regarding that emerged later on. It is hard to imagine that Holm has a future at Celtic Park, after not doing much of note in the past three seasons.

When signed in the summer of 2023 from Valerenga, Holm was very highly regarded and considered by many in the Norwegian footballing circles as the 'next Martin Odegaard'.

Unfortunately, he has not even come close to meeting those expectations. While he was involved a bit early on in his Celtic career, he seemed to lose favour with Brendan Rodgers after picking up a silly red card in a Champions League game. He did not feature much after that.

Holm was sent out on loan to LAFC but things did not go according to plan there either. Now, it looks like the midfielder is hoping to bring his career back on track by returning to the familiar surroundings of his former club.
