There appears to be a U-turn when it comes to Julian Araujo's situation after there had been rumours that he had picked up a season-ending injury.
Julian Araujo was the only signing that Celtic made during the Wilfried Nancy era. And while the manager might have lasted just 33 days in the Parkhead job, the Mexican right-back has been able to make his mark in Glasgow.
Not only has he played as a starter for Celtic but he has also made himself a popular figure amongst the fans, leading to calls for him to be signed on a permanent basis.
Unfortunately, Araujo has been unavailable in recent weeks after picking up an injury. He has also returned to Bournemouth, which suggests that the issue is serious. Naturally, there have been fears that his season could be over.
And according to a report from Stephen McGowan in The Herald, Araujo has been ruled out for seven to eight weeks by injury. The Mexican international has returned to Bournemouth for treatment on a thigh issue. So, his season with Celtic looks to be over.
But now, conflicting accounts of the situation have emerged as well. According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are still hopeful that Araujo will return for the title run-in. Initially, the hope had been that he would be fit in time for the April 19 Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren. That could be pushed back.
Yet, the Celtic chiefs continue to hope that Araujo will be able to feature in some post-split games and a potential Scottish Cup final on May 23.
It remains to be seen if Araujo can recover in time to take part in a few games at the business end of the season. There is not much time left and even the best-case scenario would see him feature only a handful of times for Celtic. It remains to be seen if the club end up signing the Mexican on a permanent basis in the summer or not.
Of course, Araujo's presence would be a boost for a Celtic team that looks to be on its last legs after their recent defeat against Dundee United, which has left them trailing both Hearts and the Rangers in the title race with just seven more games to go in the Scottish Premiership.
That being said, Celtic have a lot of worries at the moment, other than the fitness of the Mexican right-back. They will need to be a lot better overall as a team over the last few weeks of the season if they want to finish it with some silverware.
