Celtic are believed to have put in an opening bid for a player fans want to see signed.
Celtic have not done much of note in this summer transfer window so far. The only noteworthy thing so far has been done so far is agreeing a one-year deal with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
There was a good portion of fans who would have wanted to see Kelechi Iheanacho and Marcelo Saracchi brought back, based on their displays last season. But it is Oxlade-Chamberlain with whom they have agreed a deal first. It remains to be seen if those other two will follow.
Of course, the Oxlade-Chamberlain news was made official earlier today. It is no longer speculation or a rumour.
On the other hand, there has been some positive movement when it comes to signing fresh faces as well. But at the same time, there is some bad news as well
Celtic make transfer bid and end up getting rejected
It remains to be seen if Celtic end up returning with a better offer. The expectation is that they will. Negotiations are still thought to be ongoing.
Of course, this is not an unfamiliar story to Celtic fans. Time and again, the club have allowed transfer sagas to drag on with multiple offers and a tug-of-war over the final fee. It looks like it will be more of the same this summer as well.
Some reports in the media have suggested that Qarabag are holding out for a transfer fee in the region of £3 million for the striker.
Well, if that is indeed the case, then Celtic have no excuse not to complete this move. That is very much a figure that the Hoops are capable of spending and have done so numerous times in the past.
Is Camilo Duran good enough to be the first-choice striker?
This might be the more important question here. Yes, Duran did enjoy a prolific campaign in the Premier League last season.
He scored five goals and against top-level opponents like Ajax, Benfica and Newcastle United. But at the same time, his overall goalscoring record is not outstanding.
If Daizen Maeda does end up leaving, and fresh terms cannot be agreed with Iheanacho, then Celtic would need a lot more than just Duran.
If you ask me, someone like Kasper Hogh would be the type of profile that Celtic need to be aiming for alongside Duran.
