It looks like Celtic are interested in signing the 26-year-old Belgian player in this summer transfer window.

The season is now in the rear-view mirror and it is important to look towards the future. Who will be the next manager of Celtic? We do not know yet. Martin O'Neill refused to rule it out after winning the Scottish Cup and is at least ready to have a conversation about taking the job. On the other hand, other candidates are in the running as well.

Whoever it turns out to be, O'Neill or somebody new, the club will need to bring in plenty of reinforcements this summer. This current squad is simply not good enough, even if they might have just won a double.

One of the areas in need of urgent reinforcements is goalkeeper. Kasper Schmeichel is leaving the club this summer.

To be fair, he has not been involved in months, having picked up a serious injury that could spell the end of his career as a whole.

Viljami Sinisalo took his place between the posts and deserves a ton of credit for getting things over the line in the title race and in the Scottish Cup. He had some good individual performances along the way as well.

But is Sinisalo the long-term answer? The numbers suggested that he might not be as he was not able to outperform the xG that he faced in the league and gave away more goals than he should have.

At the very least, Celtic need to bring in another goalkeeper for Sinisalo to compete with. And it looks like they have a 26-year-old Belgian goalie on their radar.

According to The Herald, Go Ahead Eagles have been made aware of a tentative interest from Celtic in Jari De Busser. The 26-year-old Belgian is entering the final 12 months of his contract and has a transfer value in the region of £2.5 million.

De Busser started off his career in Belgium and it is at Lommel that he enjoyed a breakthrough. That convinced the Go Ahead Eagles to sign him. And while he was the backup option there initially, he was able to establish himself as the first choice pretty quickly.

In the 25/26 campaign, De Busser made 44 appearances across all competitions. In the Eredivisie, he appeared 34 times and some of the numbers are extraordinary.

Firstly, he faced an xGOT of 63.02 and conceded 53 times. So, he was able to prevent 10 goals. Nobody did better. He also made the most saves in the Eredivisie and was in the 87th percentile for high claims.

When it comes to playing out from the back, he might not be elite, but he more than makes up for it with his shot-stopping. If Celtic are able to sign him, they might quietly end up making one of the signings of the summer. At least that is what the numbers are suggesting here.
