It is safe to say that most fans think Celtic need to strengthen this summer. That means parting with a lot of their current players and bringing in fresh faces to replace them.

But it also means holding on to the players who have the ability to make a positive impact on the team. Daizen Maeda looks to be on his way out. And Celtic should not stand in his way if he wants to try a different experience after more than four years with the club.

Then, there are some others who have not spent as long, and should be part of the first-team picture next season.

One of them is Marcelo Saracchi. With Tottenham Hotspur securing their place in the Premier League by avoiding relegation, they are also set to sign Andrew Robertson in the summer.

As for Saracchi, his own future remains uncertain. He was an excellent backup option for Celtic this season. But he was only on loan for the campaign.

The hope is that Celtic will sign him on a permanent basis. And while that could still happen, things have not progressed like one would have hoped.

According to Bolavip, Celtic are keen to acquire Saracchi, but negotiations have not yet progressed. Therefore, the player will have to report for preseason training in Ezeiza.

Of course, Celtic are not the only club to be linked with Saracchi going into the summer. So, the Hoops might need to move quickly if they want to get a deal over the line and not risk losing out.

Saracchi has been solid for Celtic, whenever given a chance. His performance against Hearts in the final game of the league season, in which the Hoops secured the title, was a particular highlight.

The reality of the situation is that Celtic will always need to have a quality cover option at left-back, considering Kieran Tierney's injury history.

Saracchi has proven that he is more than good enough to be in that spot. In fact, there is a good section of the fanbase that believes he might be a better option than Tierney at left-back.

That might be one reason which could lead to Saracchi's exit. He might be keen on having a starter role. After all, he is only 28 years of age. Very much in the middle of his prime, not someone who is in the twilight and would be happy enough with a spot on the roster.

So, if the opportunity comes from a club that wants him as a starter, he might prefer that over joining Celtic as the cover option for Tierney.

That is just a theory on our part though. On the contrary, Saracchi might very well be content to continue on at Celtic Park in the same role.
