Callum McGregor has been linked with a move away from Celtic and the recent announcement might back that rumour.

As expected, Celtic announced the launch of their new home kit for the 26/27 season this morning. And it is a tribute to the Lisbon Lions, as this will be the 60th anniversary of the club's European Cup triumph back in 1967.

Obviously, that is an achievement worth celebrating any chance you get. Celtic became the first British team to be crowned champions of Europe. And the way modern football has gone when it comes to the financial side of things, it is hard to see it getting repeated any time soon.

A lot of promotional material came out this morning regarding the kit, which seems very similar to the 50th anniversary jersey from a decade back.

One of the most interesting details about the entire thing was the lack of Callum McGregor in the promotional material.

McGregor is the club captain. He came through the Celtic youth ranks to become one of the most decorated players in the Hoops' history.

So, you would expect someone like McGregor to be front and centre of the entire thing. But instead, there were one a few-second clips of the club captain with the rest of the team. It was Kieran Tierney who was the main face from the current side in the video.

James Forrest and Cameron Carter-Vickers were the two others prominently figure. Now, could this be hinting at a potential McGregor exit in the summer?

Let's not forget that McGregor has been heavily linked with a move away from Celtic in recent months, with a reunion with Brendan Rodgers at Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah being touted.

As one fan wrote in the comments: "No McGregor in it as he will be away to Saudi."

So, is this a case of reading too much into things? Or could it potentially be hinting at a McGregor exit in the summer? Is why Celtic have been linked with so many midfielders recently?

We do not know. But we would certainly hope that McGregor stays on. He is still just 32 years of age and very capable of remaining a starter for a while to come.

If McGregor does end up leaving, Celtic will miss him, that is for sure. You rarely find players of his quality, who are constantly available as well.

It would be great to see him retire in a Celtic jersey. And he has a real chance at being the most decorated player in the history of the club as well, which he would be essentially giving up if he does leave, especially with Forrest signing on for another season.
