It looks like Celtic are frontrunners to sign the €10 million-rated player this summer.
Celtic have made only one signing so far in this summer transfer window. Camilo Duran has been brought in from Qarabag in a deal that could rise up to £6 million.
Duran scored five goals in the Champions League last season. So signing him is a step in the right direction for sure. But a lot more is needed.
The Hoops were nowhere near the mark last season, even though they did end up winning a league and cup double. More quality is needed all across the board.
One area where Celtic must definitely improve is between the posts. Kasper Schmeichel retired in the summer, meaning there is no real competition for Viljami Sinisalo for the first-team gloves.
At the very least, Celtic must bring in someone capable of challenging Sinisalo for the first-team gloves. And it looks like that is exactly what they are planning to do.
Celtic favourites to sign €10m million-rated goalkeeper
According to SPORT, Celtic seem to be the best-placed team to sign Dinko Horkas. There has not yet been any formal offer to Las Palmas to negotiate his signing and the Croatian is not the only goalkeeper on the club's list of candidates, although he does seem to be the favourite, at least for the moment.
Celtic are not the only club looking at a possible move for Horkas. Sevilla, Olympiacos and Hull City are also eyeing him, although Las Palmas have denied the arrival of any formal offer for the player.
It is believed that Las Palmas would look for a transfer fee in the region of €10 million to part ways with Horkas.
Why Horkas could be a good signing for Celtic
Horkas played in the second division of Spanish football last season. But there was enough to suggest that he could be the solution for Celtic.
He outperformed his xGOT by more than four goals. Also, he had a save percentage of over 72% and was one of the best goalkeepers in the league when it came to his distribution, completing more passes than anybody else.
It does seem like a profile that would fit the needs at Celtic. Now, it remains to be seen if the Hoops end up making a serious move or not.
He is not the only one on the club's radar, as mentioned. Tjark Ernst, currently in the second division of Germany, is another goalkeeper with elite stats who is also wanted by the Hoops as a possible number one.
