The good news keeps coming for Celtic as the Hoops are set to complete a double signing soon.

Things are starting to look up for Celtic. The 5-1 win at the weekend was the first time in a long time that the Hoops looked convincing and won by a comfortable margin in the league.

Their new summer signings starred on the day, which was further reason for encouragement. Kasper Hogh scored a hat-trick. Camilo Duran, who has been playing out of position, got himself an assist as well.

That just goes to show the difference quality signings can make to a team. And it looks like Celtic are on the verge of completing a couple more.

Celtic set to complete double signing

It had already been confirmed by Anthony Joseph yesterday that Haissem Hassan had completed a medical in London ahead of his move to Celtic. Now, it looks like he is going to be closely followed by another player to Glasgow.

As reported by the journalist, Celtic have agreed a deal worth £6.8 million for Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur.

It’s understood that the Scottish champions will pay an initial fee of around £4.5 million, with a further £2.3 million in add-ons.

Baur was absent from Paderborn’s training today. The midfielder is due to travel to the UK for a medical.

Mika Baur strengths and weaknesses according to data

So, it looks like if everything goes according to plan, both Hassan and Baur could be involved in Celtic's upcoming Champions League qualifier.

Credit where it is due, in the past, there have been many times when Celtic have not gotten these many quality signings over the line before Champions League qualifiers, which has played a part in them failing to get past the qualification process for so many years.

This should have always been the approach. Now, I would hope that the two deals get done in time and the duo settles in by the time Celtic take on LASK a week from now.

Obviously, the signing of Baur could be a sign that the club are getting ready to sanction some exits in the middle of the park.

Paulo Bernardo has already left on loan. On the other hand, both Reo Hatate and Arne Engels are widely expected to leave.

Of course, Baur is coming in after a successful season in Bundesliga 2. So, there will be some doubts about whether he is capable of dealing with the jump to the Scottish top flight.

That being said, Baur is a very interesting profile for sure. He was one of the best in Bundesliga 2 when it comes to his numbers in front of goal as well as creatively.

Compared to positional peers, Baur was in the 90th percentile or higher for goals, shots, assists, expected assists, chances created, successful crosses, successful passes, accurate long balls and touches. So, he was doing a bit of everything.

Defensively, he is more than good enough as well. He was in the 97th percentile for possessions won in the final third, and the 93rd percentile for both recoveries and interceptions. Also, despite standing at 5'8", he won 64.7% of his aerial duels.

The only real weakness in his game is that he is not a great dribbler in the middle of the park. He only completed 12, at a success rate of 36.4%.

Interestingly, Baur might not be the only midfielder Celtic end up signing in this summer transfer window.
