It looks like one Celtic player is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur heading into the summer transfer window.
The end of the season is not far away and despite how underwhelming Celtic have been throughout the campaign, they are still in contention to win two trophies. They are three points behind Hearts in the league table and will play Derek McInnes' side on the last matchday. And in the Scottish Cup, they will face Neil Lennon's Dunfermline Athletic in the final.
Let's hope that Celtic end the season by adding two more trophies to their cabinet, which will most likely be the final two of Martin O'Neill's storied career as well.
But no matter how this campaign ends, it is very clear that Celtic will need to strengthen their squad in the summer.
The problem is, some of their best players continue to be linked with moves away from Parkhead. The midfield could find itself in the most depleted state, if those rumours end up coming true.
Callum McGregor has been linked with a move to reunite with Brendan Rodgers. Curiously, he had very little involvement in the new home kit launch.
It has been suggested that Arne Engels' exit is planned as well with clubs like RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and several others being linked with him. And now, it looks like another one of Celtic's midfield trio is drawing high-level interest.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur have been long-term admirers of Benjamin Nygrena and view him as a cost-effective option. Aston Villa, Brighton, Bournemouth, and Valencia have also shown interest in the Swedish international.
Nygren has enjoyed an excellent debut season with Celtic and was recently named the Players' Player of the Year.
He has scored 20 goals this season while playing mostly as part of a midfield three. And it would be safe to say that Celtic would not be anywhere near in the title race, if not for Nygren's contributions in front of goal.
At the same time though, a large section of the fanbase has not been impressed with his overall play. There have been suggestions that Celtic should let him leave if a significant offer does come in.
Obviously, that would be a risky move on the part of Celtic. It would be almost impossible to replace Nygren's output from the middle of the park.
He is the type of player that you surround with other midfielders who will help hide his weaknesses and accentuate his strengths. It remains to be seen what Celtic decide to do.
