Celtic have picked up some pace in the transfer market over the past few days. A deal for Camilo Duran has not been officially announced yet. But it looks like everything is over the line and it is only a matter of formalities now.

On the other hand, there are other deals that Celtic are working on already as well, as they look to strengthen in multiple areas.

Of course, it is always great to bring in fresh faces like Duran. But at the same time, it is safer to go with those who are proven in Scottish football.

It looks like Celtic are going that route when it comes to the left-back position. And it is one that the fans have called for for months now.

According to Anthony Joseph, Celtic are working on a deal to sign Boca Juniors left-back Marcelo Saracchi on a permanent deal.

There was no buy-option included in the loan deal. But Boca Juniors are believed to be open to parting with Saracchi this summer.

Saracchi was excellent whenever given a chance at Celtic last season. A good portion of the fanbase even wanted him to start ahead of Kieran Tierney.

That did not happen often. But even then, considering Tierney's fitness record, Celtic need to always have someone capable of stepping into the starting XI.

Someone like Saracchi would be perfect for that role in the squad. Signing him on a permanent basis is a bit of a no-brainer. It is curious why the club have not gotten it done already, to be honest.

There are not a lot of signings Celtic can make this summer where you can confidently say that they will come in and solve their problems in a particular position. Saracchi is one of those exceptional transfer targets.

We have already seen Saracchi at Celtic. He was very good. He showed that he can deal with Scottish football and the club can rely on him without worry.

So, signing him means that Celtic will not need to think about the left-back position anymore, whether it be its quality or depth.

Tierney and Saracchi would arguably the best two-player depth in any position in the entire Scottish Premiership.

Also, it is believed that Saracchi is available for a very reasonable transfer fee. So, Celtic should not waste any time getting this deal over the line and welcoming him back to Parkhead.
