After spending most of January and February building a roster, Charles Huff is a week away from starting spring practice. There are plenty of questions surrounding this team, and with so many new players, spring ball will be extremely valuable for Memphis.

The Tigers have mostly new pieces at the quarterback and running back positions, but they bring back some interesting pieces in the receivers’ room. Brady Kluse, who played a nice role for the Tigers last season, returns and will look to play a massive role during his junior season.

Kluse is one of six players who are returning from last year’s roster, but most of them have seen very little playing time. Outside of those six players, Huff’s staff added eight receivers in the offseason, including five transfers and three high school recruits.

Last season, Ryan Silverfield called the receivers’ room a “grab bag”, and it’ll be interesting to see what this season’s group looks like.

Brady Kluse

Kluse will return to Memphis for his junior season after recording 240 yards and two touchdowns on 22 receptions as a sophomore. Kluse had several highlight reel receptions throughout the season, and he’ll be one of the most recognizable names on the team with so much turnover.

The 6-foot-2 receiver could be poised for a breakout season and has shown flashes of being a reliable option for quarterbacks.

Bryce Dorsey

Dorsey returns for his third season with Memphis, and he’ll look for a bigger role after recording 69 yards on eight receptions as a redshirt freshman. Dorsey appeared in 10 games in 2025, and he has three years of eligibility remaining.

Keonde Henry

Henry committed to Memphis in the class of 2024 as a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports, but he has rarely seen action through the first two years of his career. Henry has played 30 total snaps over the last two seasons, but he has yet to record a pass.

Henry will be a player to keep an eye on throughout spring.

Rahim Hutchins Jr.

Hutchins was a three-star recruit in the class of 2025, and he didn’t appear in any games as a freshman. The 5-foot-11 receiver picked the Tigers over offers from Boston College, Michigan State and Nebraska, and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of role he plays in 2026.

Justice Spann

Spann transferred to Memphis ahead of the 2025 season, but he didn’t see any action. The 6-foot-2 receiver started his career at Arizona State, and he has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Jamar Jenkins

Jenkins, a local prospect, signed with the Tigers in the class of 2025, and he didn’t see any action as a freshman. The wide receiver played on both sides of the ball in high school, and he was named the 2024 TSSAA Region 8-3A Defensive Player of the Year.

Jemyri Davis

Davis signed with Memphis after spending a season at Kansas State, where he recorded only two receptions for eight yards. Davis was one of the top JUCO prospects before committing to the Wildcats, and he could become an instant threat with his speed.

Terrell Timmons Jr.

Timmons heads to the Bluff City for his final season of eligibility after stops at Colorado and NC State. The Greensboro, NC native started his career with the Wolfpack before transferring to Boulder to join Deion Sanders’ team.

Timmons had his best season in 2023, when he recorded 195 yards on 11 receptions for NC State, but he only recorded 80 yards on seven receptions in two seasons for Colorado. A chance of scenery could give him a spark in his final collegiate season.

Stonka Burnside

Burnside was listed as a wide receiver in high school, according to 247Sports, and signed with Mississippi State, but the Bulldogs moved him to safety once he got on campus. In 2024, Burnside recorded one reception and had one rushing attempt, and he recorded four tackles, mainly on special teams.

The coaching staff moved him to the defensive side of the ball prior to the 2025 season, and he only recorded one tackle in four games before suffering an injury. It appears that Burnside wanted to return to the offensive side of the ball when he entered the transfer portal, and it appears that the Tigers will use him that way.

Jermane Hayes

Hayes spent his freshman season at Southern Miss and followed the coaching staff after they left for Memphis. The 6-foot receiver recorded 36 yards on four receptions during his first collegiate season.

Tychaun Chapman

Chapman was the Tigers’ first signee from the transfer portal, and he followed the coaching staff to Southern Miss and Memphis. Chapman started his career at North Carolina but joined Huff’s team in 2024.

Chapman has recorded 729 yards and five touchdowns on 49 receptions in four seasons.

Jaylin Taylor

Taylor signed with the Tigers as a three-star recruit in the class of 2026 after flipping from Marshall in early December. Taylor, who played at Oxford High School in Mississippi, recorded over 1,000 receiving yards in both his junior and senior seasons, and he recorded 26 touchdowns over his final two seasons.

Zechariah Jenkins

Jenkins signed with Memphis in December as a three-star recruit, and he chose the Tigers over offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State and Missouri. The 6-foot-2 receiver received first-team All-State honors three years in a row, and he looks to be a treat on the outside.

Joshua Joseph

Joseph originally signed with Southern Miss, but he flipped after the coaching staff made the move to Memphis. Joseph played multiple positions in high school and helped lead Miami Central to a 10-2 record during his senior season.
