The transfer portal gave the Syracuse University football program one wide receiver on Monday, but it also took one away.
A native of New Jersey, Ross just finished up his second year at Syracuse. However, because he played only four games in 2024, he earned a redshirt year and will have three years of eligibility left in Storrs. He had 10 catches for 110 yards in 2025, also earning a touchdown against Pittsburgh.
We wondered a few weeks ago if we'd start to see a recruiting battle between Syracuse and UConn in the portal. Jason Candle, who was the previous head coach at Toledo, is now the head coach at UConn, while former Toledo defensive coordinator Vince Kehres is now the DC at Syracuse. It always made sense that those two would battle it out for Toledo players.
But that's not the only connection: Former SU QB/TE coach Nunzio Campanile is now the new offensive coordinator at UConn, giving a pathway for Syracuse players to head to Storrs via the portal.

Syracuse has experienced some turmoil at wideout this offseason, with Darrell Gill Jr., Ross and Johntay Cook each hitting the transfer portal. However, the additions of Outten, Moore and Weaver have added new talents into the mix. And that doesn't even include five-star freshman Calvin Russell, who is one of the top recruits in Syracuse history.
The Syracuse men's basketball team (11-5, 2-1 ACC) will be back at home on Tuesday night against Florida State. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. ET at the JMA Wireless Dome. The Seminoles are 7-9 overall and 0-3 inside league play.
