Can Sarkisian Win the Chess Match against Kirby Smart?
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has proven good enough to join the tier of great coaches just above the elite. He stands solidly next to the likes of Dan Lanning and other great coaches who have yet to win a national title. Winning against a national championship winning coach is a different animal, although it's something he's done once before against Alabama and head coach Nick Saban. Beating Kirby Smart is a challenge in itself. Smart is an expert in the chess match, leveraging every advantage he has at his disposal. Does Sarkisian have what it takes to finally win against Smart?

How Much Will Officiating Play a Role in Texas vs. Georgia?
Scrutiny of referees has become more and more prevalent in college football this season. Perhaps it is justified. Texas fans know firsthand how officiating can turn a game. It happened twice against the Georgia Bulldogs last season. In the first matchup, officials called a bad pass interference penalty erasing a Texas interception. They later overturned it to the chagrin of Georgia head coach Kirby Smart. Officiating tipped the scales in Georgia's favor in the SEC title matchup as Texas was flagged for double the penalties and nearly double the penalty yards. And while Texas' Quinn Ewers threw for 358 yards and Georgia's quarterbacks combined for 136 yards, the Longhorns would lose the game. Will officiating alter the game in either team's favor?

Early expectations for Georgia vs. Texas?
The Texas Longhorns are currently underdogs against the Georgia Bulldogs by just under a touchdown. With Georgia at home, it makes sense. Texas will have an advantage of two weeks of game prep in its favor having been on a bye this week. It's easy to see Longhorns' head coach Steve Sarkisian, who has had great game plans in three of the last four games, bring his best game to Athens and attack all the Bulldogs' defensive flaws. The Texas defense can probably be expected to hold serve having forced three picks in the first matchup and having held Georgia to 19 points in regulation in the SEC title last season. What are your expectations for the game?

Is Georgia Looking Ahead to Texas?
The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (7-1) are the Texas Longhorns' next opponent. They could be looking ahead to Texas. Georgia does not appear to be handling its trap game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-4) very well. And it looks like the game is displaying a path to Texas defeating the Georgia defense. In its first drive, Mississippi State drove down the field with ease behind 41 rushing yards on 10 carries. State quarterback Blake Shapen completed all four pass attempts for 34 yards. Then the Bulldogs defense limited Georgia to three points on the opening drive. There's still plenty of time, but Georgia has looked vulnerable early. Is Mississippi State giving Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian enough film to secure an upset win?

Rooting Interests for Saturday Games?
There are a handful of big games on Saturday with relevance to the No. 11 Texas Longhorns. The No. 10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish, No. 9 Oregon Ducks and No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders could all fall on Saturday. Notre Dame takes on the Navy Midshipmen (7-1). And while the Midshipmen usually don't give the Irish a great game, they look like a team on the rise in 2025. No. 9 Oregon faces the No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes while the No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders host the No. 7 BYU Cougars. With Texas Tech already with one loss and BYU undefeated, it seems clear Texas fans might be rooting for BYU, Iowa and Navy this weekend. Then again, Texas faithful may be holding out hope for a matchup with their old in-state rivals. Who are you rooting for on Saturday?

Does Two Weeks to Prepare for Georgia Over the Bye Give Texas the Edge?
The Texas Longhorns have a bye week this week. They get two weeks to prepare for the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia still has to play this week against Mississippi State. The Georgia game has likely long been a circled game for Texas since the schedule was posted for the Longhorns. Texas lost twice to Georgia including in the SEC title game. Undoubtedly, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and company will devote the bye week to Georgia prep, film review and new play installation. Given how sharp Texas looked against Vanderbilt, is it fair to assume Sarkisian will have the answers to scoring on the Georgia defense? With only eight sacks for the season, Georgia will have to play better on defense to make Texas quarterback Arch Manning uncomfortable. If they don't, Sarkisian and company could have a big game.

Did Texas Earn Its Ranking Over Oklahoma, Others?
The Texas Longhorns got a favorable ranking on Tuesday night. They sit at No. 11 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings. A couple of Big 12 teams slot ahead of Texas with undefeated BYU and one-loss Texas Tech at No. 7 and 8 respectively. Those two teams clash this weekend to determine the top of the Big 12 pecking order. Texas is ahead of Oklahoma and Utah at No. 12 and 13. Where do you think the Longhorns should rank after the first nine games of the season? Did their wins over Oklahoma and Vanderbilt justify their ranking?

Thoughts on Texas' Initial College Football Playoff Ranking?
The Texas Longhorns are ranked No. 11 in the initial College Football Playoff poll and currently the last team out. In spite of a 3-2 start with ugly losses to No. 1 Ohio State and unranked Florida, Texas sits in position to push for a playoff spot. The Longhorns control their own destiny with two Top 5 matchups left in No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 5 Georgia. Winning both likely get Texas solidly in the playoff given wins over No. 12 Oklahoma and No. 16 Vanderbilt have them at No. 11 with two losses. What do you think about where the Longhorns sit, and how high could they jump if they're able to defeat Georgia and Texas A&M?
