Veteran long-snapper Matt Orzech remains a vital special teams anchor for the Green Bay Packers ahead of a high-stakes season.

We're officially 24 days from the start of the 2026 NFL season for the Green Bay Packers. Whether you're ready or not, football season is here.

The Packers kick off their 2026 season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 13, from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Talk about pressure. The Vikings are certainly in a transitional place as a franchise, but getting going against an NFC North foe ratchets up the intensity of this season from the get-go.

It's a big season for the Packers. There's a belief that they're in a Super Bowl window right now, which means every single game is important. That means the intensity will be there in Week 2 at MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets and it will certainly be there in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons, when the Packers will play at Lambeau Field for the first time in 2026.

There's going to be a lot of proverbial ink spilled on this 2026 season and we here at PackersRoundtable hope that you spend as much time as possible with us talking about the ins and outs and ups and downs of the Packers.

As we prepare for the 2026 season, though, we're going to kick things off with a rankings series looking at the Top 50 Packers heading into the 2025 season.

At No. 24, we have long-snapper Matt Orzech

Ranking the Top 50 Packers Heading Into 2026: No. 24, Matt Orzech

Matt Orzech started training camp on the PUP list because of a calf/hamstring injury, but when he's healthy, he's one of the best long-snappers in the NFL...if not the best.

Nobody ever things about the long-snapper unless things go bad, so let's give Orzech a bit of credit in this Top 50 countdown. Considering what he does and the high level of competence he brings to the table for the Packers, he's absolutely deserving of a shoutout here in the Top 25.

He's been with the team since the spring of 2023 and he has Super Bowl-winning experience. He was part of the Los Angeles Rams team that won Super Bowl LVI.

The Packers believe in Orzech so much that they signed him to a three-year extension last season, which included a $750,000 signing bonus. That's a big contract for a long-snapper.

They've brought in veteran long-snapper Cal Adomitis to stabilize the position during camp and perhaps even give Orzech some competition. Really, though, the only way Orzech isn't the long-snapper in 2026 is because of this injury, so if he's healthy, he's going to be the guy.

2025 Synopsis:

Orzech was the long-snapper in every single game for the Packers last season.

Notable Quotables:

"Cal's done a heck of a job. ... But I think we know what Matt brings to the table as well." - Matt LaFleur

Projected Role in 2026:

Pending injuries, Orzech will be Green Bay's long-snapper and he should have a Pro Bowl season.
