Former Bundesliga Star Set For A Return?
A name that has been linked with perhaps filling the void that could be left by Serhou Guirassy is Nick Woltemade, after the German proved his Bundesliga credentials for VfB Stuttgart, scoring 17 goals and assisting 3 in his first and only full season at the club.
A Difficult Year In England
Despite this, the former VfB Stuttgart forward has had a tough debut year in England with Newcastle United.
The German international was brought in from VfB Stuttgart to be Newcastle United's Alexander Isak replacement following a summer-long transfer saga that culminated in his record-breaking transfer to Liverpool for a staggering £125 million.

He started remarkably well for Newcastle, scoring 5 goals in his first 8 appearances for the club. But he would only go on to score a further 6 goals and 4 assists in a further 43 appearances in all competitions.
As well as his form dropping off, it also resulted in him losing his starting place within the team in the 2nd half of the season, and falling massively out of favour with Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.
What Next For Nick Woltemade?
This has now led to speculation that Newcastle may look to cut their losses for a player that, at the moment, has not got the confidence of the manager and looks a shadow of his former Bundesliga self playing for Newcastle United.

However, it would seem that, as it stands, Premier League side Aston Villa are the most interested in signing Nick Woltemade, with Newcastle United demanding around €65 million for the forward.

For Borussia Dortmund, the potential addition of Nick Woltemade would enhance the forward line. Nick Woltemade's top attributes, however, are linking up play, tidy bits of dribbling and finishing, so would he fit in at Borussia Dortmund as a direct replacement for Serhou Guirassy?
Or instead, would Nick Woltemade not work better as a second striker, someone for Serhou Guirassy to play off? In which case, if Guirassy were to leave Dortmund, I am not sure that Nick Woltemade is the man to replace him, especially at the price point Newcastle are asking for.
