Galatasaray are set to rival Ajax for the signing of Noa Lang.
Mika Godts has officially completed his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain from Ajax.
The Belgian winger, who was also subject to interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona, has signed a long-term contract in Paris. The two clubs agreed on a total package of €55 million: €45 million guaranteed plus €10 million in bonuses.
Ajax have now confirmed the signing of Jofre Torrents from Barcelona and, depending on departures, are now expected to make at least four more signings this summer, one of those being a replacement for Godts.
Noa Lang is seemingly Ajax's top target, but Galatasaray are also strongly interested, and Lang would be keen on a return to the Turkish giants after spending the second half of last season on loan there. There is also interest from Serie A.
Reports in Turkey claim Napoli would be open to selling Lang for a fee of €15 million, just one year after signing him from PSV Eindhoven for almost double that.
Galatasaray make move for Lang
Galatasaray are now working on a deal to bring Lang back to the club. The Turkish giants failed with a bid to sign Gabriel Martinelli and have turned their focus to the Dutch winger, despite reports claiming Rafael Leao and others were higher on their shortlist than Lang.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Ajax are in the race for Noa Lang, but Galatasaray have opened negotiations with Napoli to re-sign the winger. The clubs are now working to find a solution, with talks centring around a permanent deal.
While Plettenberg reports talks are around a permanent deal, reports in Italy claim that both clubs are targeting a loan move.
According to Di Marzio, both Ajax and Galatasaray have been in talks in the last few hours to work on a deal for Lang. Both clubs want to sign the player on loan with an option to buy.
While Ajax and Galatasaray are the frontrunners for Lang, the report from Di Marzio claims that Serie A outfit Atalanta also enquired about a loan deal last week. Further developments are expected in the coming days.
Ajax need to win the race
Ajax must win the race to sign Lang. Godts was one of the best players in the Eredivisie last season, and Ajax need to sign a player who can have a similar impact.
Arnaut Danjuma is also reportedly on Ajax's list, but the Valencia winger has struggled for form over the last few seasons and isn't good enough to replace a player of Godts' quality.
A loan with the option to buy Lang permanently next summer would be excellent if Ajax can get that deal across the line, but signing him for a fee of around €15 million would also be good value for money.
The signing of Lang would soften the impact of losing Godts, and it would significantly increase Ajax's chances of winning the Eredivisie title this season.
