After a failed medical scuppered a move to Ibrox, the Moroccan winger swaps Eindhoven for La Liga, leaving behind a trophy-laden career and unforgettable Champions League goals.
PSV have reached an agreement with Celta de Vigo for the transfer of Couhaib Driouech.
The 24-year-old forward will leave Eindhoven with immediate effect and sign a four-year contract with the Spanish club.
Couhaib Driouech’s PSV career has come to an end, with the winger completing his move to Celta de Vigo after a turbulent spell in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Driouech joined PSV from Excelsior Rotterdam in the summer of 2024 and leaves having contributed to two Eredivisie titles and one Johan Cruyff Shield.
The Moroccan-born forward also enjoyed memorable moments on the European stage, scoring unforgettable goals against Liverpool at Anfield and Napoli at the Philips Stadion in the UEFA Champions League.
Rangers Move Collapsed After Medical
Driouech appeared close to leaving PSV earlier this summer when Rangers FC pushed to sign him. The winger travelled to Scotland and looked set to continue his career at Ibrox.
However, the transfer collapsed after Rangers’ medical examination identified a minor injury. The Scottish club subsequently decided to withdraw from the deal.
Driouech returned to Eindhoven, but his prospects of regular playing time had diminished. Ruben van Bommel’s return from injury strengthened PSV’s options on the left, while young forward Amir Bouhamdi also impressed during pre-season.
The collapse of the Rangers deal ultimately reopened the door to Celta, who had previously attempted to hijack the transfer.
Driouech Leaves With Two Titles
Although Driouech was never a guaranteed starter under Peter Bosz, he still played an important part in PSV’s recent domestic success.
One of his most memorable contributions came last season against FC Utrecht on Saturday, April 4, when his stoppage-time winner secured a dramatic 4-3 victory at the Philips Stadion.
The result proved decisive in the title race. The following day, FC Volendam held Feyenoord to a 0-0 draw, confirming PSV as the earliest-ever Eredivisie champions.
Driouech says those moments will remain among the highlights of his career.
“When I look back on my time at PSV, those are the sporting highlights that will always stay with me,” Driouech said.
“But even more than that, I appreciate the warmth this club radiates and the relationships I have built with players, staff, other employees, and fans. PSV helped me grow as a player and as a person. I want to thank everyone for that. Now I look forward to my new adventure at Celta de Vigo, but I will continue to follow PSV and wish the club every success for the future.”
Driouech now begins the next chapter of his career in La Liga, with PSV thanking the forward for his contribution and wishing him all the best at Celta de Vigo.
