PSV are set to sell Joey Veerman to Borussia Dortmund for around €22 million, with the midfielder due to undergo his medical on Monday. The German club has triggered the buyout clause agreed with PSV.
Joey Veerman is set to leave PSV for Borussia Dortmund after nearly five years in Eindhoven, with the German club agreeing to pay around €22 million for the midfielder.
According to PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, reliable sources have confirmed that Veerman's medical examination is scheduled for Monday. The transfer has moved rapidly over the past few days, following sustained interest from Dortmund.
The 27-year-old featured in PSV's 2-1 victory over Excelsior on Saturday evening and produced another influential display in what now appears likely to have been his final appearance for the club.

Borussia Dortmund had been monitoring Veerman for some time. The German club first became impressed by the Volendam native in 2024 and continued to follow his development closely.
PSV's management would have preferred to keep the midfielder, but the club has little room for manoeuvre once the agreed buyout clause is triggered.
Veerman turns 28 later this year, making this summer a significant point in his career. For PSV, the deal also represents a substantial financial return on a player signed from FC Volendam in January 2022 for just over €5 million.
The final package is understood to be around €22m, although Sky Sport Germany's Patrick Berger reports that the total could reach €22-25m.
Five Seasons, Eight Major Trophies
Veerman leaves PSV having established himself as one of the club's most important midfielders.
During his time in Eindhoven, he won the Eredivisie title three times, lifted the KNVB Cup in 2022 and 2023 and claimed the Johan Cruyff Shield on three occasions.
That gives him eight major trophies across five seasons.
His final contribution came on Saturday, when he helped PSV overcome Excelsior 2-1. Despite the transfer speculation surrounding him, there was little indication that his focus had been affected.

For Veerman, the Dortmund move represents the opportunity he has been seeking for several years.
Previous attempts to leave PSV, including interest from Brentford and Fenerbahçe, failed to result in a transfer. This time, however, Borussia Dortmund have acted decisively.
Veerman had already admitted after the Excelsior match that he would welcome a move to the Bundesliga giants. Speaking to ESPN journalist Jan-Joost van Gangelen, he made clear his desire to finally take the step abroad and described Borussia Dortmund as an attractive destination.
The remaining hurdle is now the medical examination on Monday.
Sky Sport Germany's Patrick Berger reported:
“Joey Veerman ahead of transfer to #BVB! Deal with PSV close to completion. Around €22-25m. Contract over five years. Medical still in the new week.”
If the medical proceeds without complications, Veerman's long-awaited departure from PSV will become reality, bringing an end to one of the longest-running transfer stories surrounding the Eindhoven club.
