The veteran striker returned to De Herdgang while nearing full fitness, targeting a fresh professional start as he evaluates offers following a grueling recovery from knee surgery.
Luuk de Jong paid a brief visit to PSV on Thursday as the experienced striker continues his rehabilitation and prepares for the next chapter of his career.
The 36-year-old, a six-time Eredivisie champion, remains in regular contact with several people at the Eindhoven club and returned to De Herdgang, the training complex where he worked every day between 2014 and 2025.
De Jong is now in the final stages of his recovery from a serious knee injury and is approaching full fitness. The striker worked on his rehabilitation in Portugal until August, with his recovery progressing towards the point where he can return to competitive football.

Although De Jong is not yet match-fit, retirement is not currently his plan.
As reported by PSV Watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, the former PSV captain wants to continue his professional career and hopes to regain match fitness at a new club. During the coming period, he will consider the offers already available to him as well as those that could arrive in the weeks ahead.
De Jong left PSV in 2025 after an enormously successful spell at the club and subsequently signed for FC Porto. However, his time in Portugal was disrupted by a serious knee injury suffered shortly after his arrival.
A return to PSV was not an option this summer, meaning the striker must now look elsewhere for the next stage of his playing career.
His visit to De Herdgang nevertheless brought him back to a familiar environment, having spent many years at the training ground during his time in Eindhoven.
PSV Add Lyfe Oldenstam to Jong PSV
Meanwhile, PSV have also strengthened their reserve side with the arrival of Lyfe Oldenstam.
The 19-year-old has joined PSV U21 after spending last season with the reserve team of Italian club Como. Oldenstam was developed through the youth systems of PEC Zwolle and Ajax before continuing his career abroad.
Technically gifted, Oldenstam has developed into a modern right-back in recent years, although he is also capable of operating in midfield.
The youngster has already gained international experience with the Netherlands, making nine appearances for the Dutch Under-19 team.
PSV U21 technical manager Jan Vennegoor has signed Oldenstam for one season, giving the young defender an opportunity to continue his development in Eindhoven.
The arrival of Oldenstam follows PSV's decision to sell 19-year-old right-back Essiën Bassey to Viking Stavanger, adding another young option to the club's development pathway.
For De Jong, meanwhile, the focus is on completing his recovery and finding the right opportunity to return to competitive football. The striker is not ready to step back onto the pitch just yet, but his intention remains clear: his playing career is not over.
