PSV Eindhoven missed out on a potential €55 million in transfer revenue from four deals that collapsed.

PSV’s summer transfer window has produced significant movement both in and out of the squad, but the Eindhoven club could have generated considerably more income had several deals reached the finish line.

Veerman’s departure for Dortmund has been completed and is regarded as a major transfer in Germany. The midfielder has already joined the Bundesliga side and taken part in several training sessions since completing his move from PSV.

According to reports from Sky Sports Germany and BILD, as relayed by PSV Inside, details of Veerman’s contract have also emerged. The 27-year-old is reportedly set to earn between €3 million and €4 million per year at Dortmund, representing a substantial increase on his PSV salary.

At Eindhoven, Veerman was earning just under €2 million annually.

While Veerman ultimately secured his desired move, PSV experienced considerable frustration with several other transfers this year.

The biggest blow came in March, when Ricardo Pepi's proposed move to Fulham collapsed after the striker failed his medical examination. PSV subsequently missed out on around €40 million in potential transfer income.

The club then suffered further setbacks this summer.

Armando Obispo saw a transfer to France fall through, while Adamo Nagalo's proposed move to Turkey also failed to materialise. Couhaib Driouech appeared to be on his way to Rangers before the Scottish club abandoned the deal following a medical assessment.

Those four failed departures collectively left PSV with around €55 million less in transfer revenue than the club could potentially have received.

The situation was particularly frustrating because several of the moves had progressed to advanced stages before collapsing.

The completion of Veerman's transfer has at least provided PSV with a significant financial return.

The midfielder has signed a five-year contract with Borussia Dortmund, while PSV are expected to receive approximately €20 million after deductions owed to former clubs SC Heerenveen and FC Volendam.

Veerman joined PSV from Heerenveen in January 2022 and subsequently developed into one of the club's most important midfielders. His passing ability, creativity and growing influence made him a key figure during PSV's successful spell in domestic football.

The move to Dortmund also ends a period in which Veerman had repeatedly been linked with a transfer away from Eindhoven.

For PSV, however, the financial picture could have looked markedly different. Had the four other departures gone through as planned, the club's summer income would have been substantially higher.

Instead, the Eindhoven side must now look ahead with €55 million in potential transfer revenue having disappeared through four deals that failed to reach completion.
