The reigning champions aim to snap a winless streak against a struggling side debuting a new manager. Can PSV find their scoring touch amidst an ongoing injury crisis?
PSV Eindhoven will look to return to winning ways in the Eredivisie when they welcome struggling Willem II to the Philips Stadion on Saturday evening.
Peter Bosz's reigning champions are third in the table with 20 points from 10 matches, four points behind unbeaten leaders Feyenoord. Willem II, meanwhile, find themselves bottom of the standings with just two points and are still searching for their first league victory of the campaign.
The visitors will also arrive in Eindhoven under new management, with Jurgen Streppel taking charge until the end of the season.
Questions remain about PSV'S attacking options [IMAGO/Pro Shots]Match Preview
PSV head into the weekend following a 1-1 draw against Feyenoord, a result that extended their winless run in the league to two matches. Guus Til gave the Eindhoven club the lead in the 21st minute, but Anis Hadj Moussa restored parity shortly after half-time.
Bosz's team had opportunities to secure all three points, with Lutsharel Geertruida seeing a second-half goal disallowed for offside and Armando Obispo heading against the post.
Despite dropping points, PSV have shown attacking quality throughout the campaign, scoring 28 goals in their opening 10 league matches. Til leads their scoring charts with six goals, while Sven Mijnans has contributed five.
However, questions remain about the team's attacking options, particularly with several forwards unavailable through injury. Ruben van Bommel and Ivan Perišić will be expected to provide creativity and width as PSV attempt to improve their attacking efficiency.
Willem II's situation is considerably more difficult. They have collected just two points from 10 matches, losing eight and conceding 32 goals.
Their latest league disappointment was a 6-1 home defeat against Cambuur, which contributed to the dismissal of John Stegeman. Adrie Koster subsequently took temporary charge before the club appointed Jurgen Streppel, who previously managed Willem II between 2011 and 2016.
Streppel's immediate priority is to improve the club's defensive organisation and guide them away from the relegation places. However, his first league assignment comes against a PSV side that will be determined to close the gap on Feyenoord.
Willem II did hold PSV to a 1-1 draw at the Philips Stadion in February 2025, but their last league victory over the Eindhoven club came in September 2021.
