Despite a depleted squad and sitting four points off the lead, PSV's depth and tactical evolution suggest a fourth consecutive Eredivisie crown remains well within Peter Bosz’s reach.

Marco Timmer believes PSV have enough quality and squad depth to win a fourth consecutive Eredivisie title, despite their injury problems and current position in the table.

PSV have made a strong impression over the past three seasons, winning the Eredivisie title on each occasion. Peter Bosz’s side are aiming to extend that run this campaign, and journalist Marco Timmer remains confident they will finish the season as champions.

Speaking on the Skiete Willy Podcast from Voetbal International, Timmer pointed to PSV’s squad depth as a major reason for his optimism. Despite a difficult spell with several players unavailable, he believes the squad’s full strength gives the Eindhoven club a significant advantage.

After ten league matches, PSV sit third in the table, four points behind leaders Feyenoord and one point adrift of second-placed Ajax. Their progress has also been complicated by a lengthy injury list, forcing Bosz to give opportunities to several younger players, including Mikkel Bro Hansen and Shuryjano Cornecion.

The discussion on the podcast centred on PSV’s performances against FC Porto and Feyenoord. Former PSV player Björn van der Doelen was particularly impressed by what he saw in Portugal, suggesting the team have developed another dimension to their game.

“In Porto, I was really very impressed,” Van der Doelen said. “The intensity, not only in the transition after losing the ball, but also in possession of the ball to create space. I haven't really seen them play like that yet.

“Even though we've already had three fantastic seasons, I have the idea that in that regard, we've made another step again somehow.”

Timmer agreed that PSV had taken their performance to another level against Feyenoord, prompting Van der Doelen to reflect on how circumstances have affected the team's results.

He suggested that PSV could have collected more points against their rivals but for the combination of difficult moments and injuries. The biggest difference, he argued, has been the reduced number of options available to Bosz from the bench.

“In previous seasons, you had so many options if a match didn't quite go your way, to bring something from the bench with guys who can then force something,” Van der Doelen explained, as quoted by PSV Inside.

Timmer then highlighted the number of important players currently missing from the PSV squad, listing Schouten, Pléa, Mijnans, Pepi, Wanner, Lammers and Ouaissa as seven players unavailable through injury or suspension.

“If you have those as well, then you indeed have that deep bench that everyone keeps talking about,” Timmer said. “What also strengthens my confidence that PSV will ‘simply’ become champions.”

The journalist also praised Bosz for the way he has managed the situation, particularly his willingness to introduce young players despite the pressure of competing for the title.

Timmer singled out Cornecion, an attacking player who was brought on during the recent run of matches. He also discussed Sano, describing him as a more complete and experienced option who is continuing to develop.

With senior players unavailable, Bosz has had to make difficult decisions and adjust his attacking options, even turning to young striker Mikkel Bro Hansen when necessary.

For Timmer, those circumstances have only reinforced his belief in PSV's title credentials. While injuries have reduced the depth available to Bosz, he expects the return of key players to restore the strength that has made the Eindhoven side so successful in recent seasons.
