The American international snubbed Premier League interest to cement his future in Eindhoven, prioritizing Eredivisie stability over a late London switch following his recovery from a serious injury.
Sergiño Dest will remain at PSV after turning down late interest from Fulham, bringing an end to speculation over the right-back’s future in Eindhoven.
Dest was among the PSV players who could potentially have left the club during the summer transfer window. As reported by PSV Watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, the United States international has decided that he does not want a last-minute move and intends to continue his career with the Dutch champions.
Fulham were interested in bringing the 25-year-old to England towards the end of the transfer window and were preparing to make a serious attempt to sign him. However, the Premier League club never submitted a formal offer to PSV after it became clear that Dest was not interested in making the switch.
For PSV, keeping Dest represents an important boost. When fit and in form, the full-back provides considerable attacking threat and has established himself as one of the club's key players since arriving in Eindhoven.
Dest chooses to stay at PSV
Dest has spent three years at PSV and has won the Eredivisie title in each of those seasons.
His time in Eindhoven has not been without setbacks. A serious cruciate ligament injury in 2024 kept him out for a significant period, with Dest only returning late in the 2024–25 campaign. Even then, he made an important contribution as PSV secured another league title.
His strongest season came in 2023–24, when Dest was one of the standout full-backs in the Eredivisie and played an important role in a PSV side that won the championship earlier than any team had previously managed.
A departure appeared possible this summer, particularly because PSV had agreed to a clause allowing Dest to leave for a fee of no less than €23 million. Several clubs showed interest, but the American ultimately opted against pursuing another challenge.
