Follow every selection and trade as Washington kicks off the 2026 class with AJ Dybantsa. Gain exclusive local insights on how these blue-chip prospects reshape their franchises.

As the NBA Draft unfolds, teams will hope to add the one missing piece that leaps their franchise into contention. Here, we'll track each of the first-round selections throughout the 2026 NBA Draft, led off by one of the most dynamic scorers and playmakers in college basketball, who will make his way to the nation's capital.

This was expected to be a draft with an active trade market at the top, and yet no trades have happened within the early portions of the selection process. Teams like the New Orleans Pelicans were expected to be among those looking to make the leap, with teams like the Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks presumably among those looking to move down.

Instead, the draft has remained stagnant in the early stages, leading to an expected start to the order.

Along with each selection, we'll include the local perspective from the experts covering their team each and every day so that you can read the latest on the selections and what they mean for their new franchises.
