Huskies host top guard talent while key targets explore visits elsewhere. Uncover the latest transfer portal movements shaping Washington's roster.

The Washington Huskies men's and women's basketball teams are doing their due diligence when it comes to the transfer portal.

The women's portal window closes April 20 and the men's portal window closes April 21.

Both teams have already made additions via the portal this offseason. The men's team has added seniors, forward Steele Venters and guard Parker Friedrichsen and the women's team landed senior guard and UW legacy Macey Huard.

The Huskies have several more interesting players outside of those mentioned. Here's a roundup of updates on potential targets for both teams.

Ryan Beasley, G, MBB

The Washington men's team is still looking for a pair of floor generals to take over for departed point guards Zoom Diallo and JJ Mandaquit.

On Thursday, the Huskies hosted a potential replacement for those players: soon-to-be-senior Ryan Beasley, who entered the portal from San Francisco.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound guard averaged 13.6 points per game across 31 starts with the Dons last season on 40.6% shooting. He also averaged four assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

The second-team All-West Coast Conference guard has one year of eligibility remaining. He's already had a visit with Stanford, has another visit scheduled with Notre Dame and has drawn interest from Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina State and Grand Canyon, per reports.

Braeden Smith, G, MBB

Braeden Smith, a Seattle native and Seattle Prep School graduate, entered the portal after one year at Gonzaga.

The 6-foot, 170-pound point guard averaged 5.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and a steal across 35 games (18 starts) with the Bulldogs this past season. He previously played with the Colgate Raiders his first two years in college, where he was named the Patriot League Player of the Year in 2024.

Smith reportedly has an official visit scheduled with Washington.

Mikey Lewis, G, MBB

Former Saint Mary's point guard Mikey Lewis has been one of the most sought-after guards in the portal. He's already taken a visit with the Huskies and their Pacific Northwest rivals, the Oregon Ducks.

The competition to land Lewis is seemingly growing larger. He has a visit scheduled with the Villanova Wildcats this weekend, per reports.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound soon-to-be-junior averaged 13.9 points on 39.6% shooting across 33 games (all starts) this past season with the Gaels. He also averaged 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Drew Fielder, C, MBB

Another position of need for Washington is another starting-caliber big man in the post with the departures of forward Hannes Steinbach (NBA Draft) and center Franck Kepnang (transfer portal).

One potential replacement is soon-to-be-senior center Drew Fielder. The senior entered the portal after a year at his hometown school, Boise State. He averaged 14.7 points on 54.7% shooting (40.9% from 3-point range) in 32 games (30 starts) with the Broncos. He also averaged 5.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

The Huskies hosted Fielder for an on-campus visit last week. Reportedly, Fielder also has a visit lined up with the Alabama Crimson Tide this weekend.

Oliviyah Edwards, F, WBB

One of the top recruits in the Class of 2026, Oliviyah Edwards, was released from her letter of intent with the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. The Tacoma, Wash., native and fifth-ranked player in her class (per 247Sports) had Washington named among her initial final four teams before committing to Tennessee. The other two teams were South Carolina, Southern California (USC).

So far this offseason, Edwards has taken visits to South Carolina and Louisville.

There hasn't been any news of if Edwards has a visit lined up with the Huskies. But given her proximity in high school to UW's campus in Montlake, it's likely that she's familiar enough with the team's facilities that she's prioritizing exploring teams she's less familiar with.
