Green Bay’s Super Bowl window demands elite special teams play. Discover how return specialist Skyy Moore aims to tilt the field after joining the Packers’ revamped roster.
We're officially 23 days from the start of the 2026 NFL season for the Green Bay Packers. Whether you're ready or not, football season is here.
The Packers kick off their 2026 season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 13, from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Talk about pressure. The Vikings are certainly in a transitional place as a franchise, but getting going against an NFC North foe ratchets up the intensity of this season from the get-go.
It's a big season for the Packers. There's a belief that they're in a Super Bowl window right now, which means every single game is important. That means the intensity will be there in Week 2 at MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets and it will certainly be there in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons, when the Packers will play at Lambeau Field for the first time in 2026.
There's going to be a lot of proverbial ink spilled on this 2026 season and we here at PackersRoundtable hope that you spend as much time as possible with us talking about the ins and outs and ups and downs of the Packers.
As we prepare for the 2026 season, though, we're going to kick things off with a rankings series looking at the Top 50 Packers heading into the 2025 season.
At No. 23, we have wide receiver/kick returner Skyy Moore
Ranking the Top 50 Packers Heading Into 2026: No. 23, Skyy Moore
USA TODAY Network via Reuters ConnectnbJUIf you were looking at the wide receiver depth chart only, Skyy Moore wouldn't seem like a huge factor heading into the 2026 season. The Packers are clearly rolling with Christian Watson, Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed as their WR1-through-WR3 and Savion Williams is likely to be the WR4.
Moore will absolutely compete with Williams for wide receiver snaps as a backup, but the Packers didn't sign him this offseason to compete at wideout.
They brought him in to help revamp their special teams unit.
Moore has been one of the best return specialists in the league.
Last season with the San Francisco 49ers, he averaged 27.5 yards per kickoff return, which was sixth-best in the NFL. He also averaged 11.6 yards per punt return, which was seventh-best in the NFL.
Moore had a long return of 98 on a kick return and a long of 66 on a punt, so he's absolutely a field-tilter.
He also has Super Bowl-winning experience. A former second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, he won back-to-back Super Bowls and even scored a touchdown in one.
A 25 year old out of Western Michigan, Moore projects to be a sneaky good free agency addition by the Packers.
2025 Synopsis:
Moore caught five passes for 87 yards on offense for the 49ers in 17 games. He totaled 907 kick return yards and 291 punt return yards.
Notable Quotables:
"Skyy's going to help us as a returner and as a receiver. I think he's going to do both. He does a lot of the things offensively that Matt asks of those guys, particularly in the slot, and then, obviously, he's a proven punt and kick returner. I expect him to be part of our squad moving forward." -Brian Gutekunst
Projected Role in 2026:
Moore is going to return kicks and punts and he'll be an All-Pro doing so. One would imagine that Matt LaFleur also schemes up one or two touches per game for him on offense.
