The 36-team Champions League field for the 2026/27 league phase will be confirmed on Wednesday, August 26, with PSV already assured of their place in the main competition.
Peter Bosz’s side will enter the tournament for a fourth successive season. Since the competition was revamped in 2024/25, the traditional group stage has been replaced by a league phase, meaning clubs can face teams from the same country, provided they meet the competition’s draw restrictions.
That opens the door to some heavyweight encounters for PSV, with the Dutch champions potentially facing two German or English clubs during the league phase.

As relayed by PSV Inside, PSV could be drawn against Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United or Aston Villa, while Italian opposition could include Inter Milan, Napoli, Roma or Como.

The final list will also depend on the outcome of several play-off ties. PSV could face the winner of LASK Linz-Celtic, AEK Athens-Levski Sofia, Lyon-Fenerbahçe, NK Celje-Slovan Bratislava or Viking FK-Dinamo Zagreb.
There is also a Dutch subplot. NEC must overturn a 3-1 first-leg deficit against Bodø/Glimt to reach the league phase. Should Dick Schreuder’s side complete the comeback, three Dutch clubs would compete in the Champions League for the first time since 2002/03.
This will also be the final season in which two Dutch clubs qualify directly for the league phase. From next season, only the Eredivisie champions will enter automatically, while the second-placed team will have to navigate the qualifying rounds.
