Sami Ouaissa fulfills a lifelong ambition, swapping NEC for Eindhoven on a five-season deal. The Dutch winger brings creative flair to Peter Bosz’s squad as PSV’s summer recruitment accelerates.
PSV have completed the signing of Sami Ouaissa from NEC, with the 21-year-old winger signing a five-season contract in Eindhoven.
The Dutch player of Moroccan descent will wear the number 11 shirt after completing his move from NEC, with PSV paying a total of €9 million for his services. His contract will run until mid-2031.
For Ouaissa, the transfer represents the fulfilment of a childhood ambition. The winger grew up in Limburg and came through the youth academy at Roda JC before joining NEC in the winter of 2024. He was immediately loaned back to the Limburg club before establishing himself in Nijmegen.
Over the past two years, Ouaissa made 76 official appearances for NEC, scoring 15 goals and providing nine assists. His progress also earned him a call-up and debut for the Netherlands Under-21 side.
‘It’s always been my dream to play for PSV’
Ouaissa made no secret of his excitement after completing the move.
“It’s always been my dream to play for PSV,” Ouaissa said. “Even as a young boy, I’d go to De Herdgang wearing my PSV scarf to watch training sessions and take pictures with the players. It feels fantastic to now be able to put on that iconic red-and-white jersey myself.”
The new PSV winger also explained what attracted him to the club and outlined his ambitions after arriving in Eindhoven.
“PSV is a top-tier club. The style of play appeals to me, the team appeals to me, the coaching staff appeals to me, and I could go on and on. I’m incredibly driven to win as many trophies as possible here in Eindhoven.”
Ouaissa's arrival gives head coach Peter Bosz another attacking option, with his creativity, threat and ability to contribute in the final third among the qualities PSV identified during their pursuit.
Stewart highlights Ouaissa’s mentality
Director of Football Operations Earnest Stewart believes PSV have secured a player with significant room for further development.
“With Sami, we’re once again adding a quality player to our roster,” Stewart said. “In recent years, he has demonstrated a great deal of creativity, threat, and effectiveness. We’re also impressed by his mentality.”
Stewart added that PSV see the winger as a player capable of developing further within the club's environment.
“We see him as a player with great potential and the right attitude to take the next steps in his development. Sami has the ambition to become even better, and we’re confident that PSV offers him the right environment to do so. We’re happy to welcome him here and to continue building on PSV’s ambitions together.”
Ouaissa becomes PSV's fifth signing of the transfer window, following Sven Mijnans, Kodai Sano, Filip Kostic and Lutsharel Geertruida.
PSV continue busy transfer window
The club's transfer activity is not expected to end with Ouaissa. Sam Lammers, Ayoni Santos and Danish striker Mikkel Bro Hansen are also set to join PSV, although Bro Hansen still needs to complete his medical examination.
As reported by PSV Watcher Rik Elfrink, PSV have committed around €18 million to the quartet: €9 million for Ouaissa, €5 million for Santos, €3 million for Bro Hansen and €2 million for Lammers.
Bro Hansen's arrival is expected to be finalised after his medical, following months of work on the deal.
There could still be movement in both directions before the transfer window closes. Former PSV player Anass Salah-Eddine is staying with AS Roma and will not join West Ham United, while Esmir Bajraktarevic's proposed move to Sevilla is not going ahead.
With several European markets still open, PSV could yet see further adjustments to the squad before the final deadline.
