PSV have secured the long-term future of Amir Bouhamdi, with the 18-year-old forward signing a new contract that will keep him at the Eindhoven club until mid-2031.

The Limburg-born attacker, who has Moroccan roots, has enjoyed a rapid rise into PSV's first-team picture in recent months. A verbal agreement had already been reached, but the new deal has now been formally signed.

Bouhamdi joined PSV from Roda JC in the summer of 2017 and has since progressed through virtually the entire youth academy. He is currently part of the PSV U21 squad while regularly training and featuring with Peter Bosz's first team.

His development has accelerated this season, with Bosz handing him a number of opportunities at the senior level. Bouhamdi even started the Johan Cruyff Shield and has been introduced as a substitute in each of PSV's matches over the past few weeks.

His latest contribution came in Sunday's emphatic 6-1 victory over FC Utrecht, when he came off the bench as a left winger and provided two assists.

Despite the attention surrounding his emergence, Bouhamdi insists he is focused on remaining grounded and continuing to improve.

“A lot has been going on for me in recent months, but I’m trying to stay calm and, above all, keep working incredibly hard,” says Bouhamdi. “I feel the trust coming from all levels of the club and am trying to repay that by making my mark.”

The teenager is also conscious that his breakthrough is only the beginning of his development.

“At the same time, I realize very well that I still have a lot to learn, and I’m going to do everything I can to reach my full potential in the coming years. This contract extension is a wonderful milestone, one I’m immensely proud of.”

Bouhamdi's current schedule reflects his position within the club. He trains with the senior squad, plays regularly for Jong PSV and is already gaining valuable experience at the highest level.

PSV Director of Football Earnest Stewart has been impressed not only by Bouhamdi's footballing development but also by the youngster's character.

“Amir has been a source of inspiration for many youth players so far,” says Stewart. “He works hard, is open to feedback, and remains calm amid all the attention he’s currently receiving. That’s an important quality for a young player.”

Stewart believes PSV can provide the right environment for Bouhamdi to continue developing and has backed him to make further progress in the years ahead.

“We’re pleased that Amir is committing his future to PSV and are fully confident that he can continue to develop here. If Amir manages to stay true to himself, remain patient, and maintain the same attitude that has brought him this far, then there are even greater achievements ahead for him.”

The new contract represents a significant show of faith from PSV in one of their most promising young players. For Bouhamdi, meanwhile, it provides long-term security as he continues his attempt to establish himself as a regular member of Bosz's first-team plans.
