Lutsharel Geertruida’s return to training bolsters Peter Bosz’s defensive options as the Eredivisie champions navigate a congested schedule and a lengthy absentee list for Friday's home fixture.

PSV have trained with a largely complete squad for the first time since the international break, although Peter Bosz will still be without several players when his side face SC Heerenveen on Friday.

The session came just a day before the Eredivisie fixture at the Philips Stadium, leaving PSV with limited time to assess their returning internationals and players carrying minor fitness concerns.

Bosz acknowledged the unusual scheduling but pointed out that PSV had played a part in arranging it.

“We have to deal with this schedule. We ourselves requested to play on Friday,” Bosz said.

Geertruida Could Return

As reported by PSV Watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, the biggest positive from Thursday's training was the return of Lutsharel Geertruida, who took part in the session and could be available against Heerenveen.

His fitness will be assessed before Bosz makes a final decision, but the defender's return would give PSV another option in defence after a period when the squad has been stretched by injuries and international commitments.

Sami Ouaissa, meanwhile, still needs more time before he can return to competitive action.

At this point, PSV will be without eight players for Friday's match: Jerdy Schouten, Alassane Pléa, Ouaissa, Sam Lammers, and Adamo Nagalo, with Sildillia, Paul Wanner, and Ricardo Pepi also absent.

Bosz is also due to speak with Sergiño Dest on Thursday. The American defender has been involved with the United States during the international break, and PSV will assess his condition before determining whether he can feature against Heerenveen.

Cornecion Moves Closer to First Team

PSV are also preparing to bring Shuryjano Cornecion closer to the first-team environment.

The move comes as Bosz continues to manage a squad affected by injuries, while the club also considers whether another young player can become available for European competition.

PSV are investigating whether Mikkel Bro Hansen can still be registered for their Champions League campaign.

There is a UEFA regulation that could potentially allow PSV to add the young player to their European squad following Pléa's injury. The club is now looking into whether the circumstances meet the requirements for that provision.

For Bosz, the immediate priority remains Friday's meeting with Heerenveen. PSV are returning to league action after the international break and will be looking to respond following their defeat by FC Twente before the break.

With Geertruida back in training and no fresh injuries reported, PSV have at least received some encouragement ahead of the fixture, even if several important absences remain.
