PSV have reached a verbal agreement with NEC for the signing of Sami Ouaissa, with the 21-year-old set to sign a contract until mid-2031.

The Eindhoven club will pay approximately €9 million for the midfielder, according to PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of the Eindhovens Dagblad.

PSV have taken another significant step in reshaping their squad, reaching an agreement with NEC for Sami Ouaissa after several days of negotiations.

The Eindhoven club initially submitted a bid of just over €8 million last week. Following further discussions, the two clubs reached a verbal agreement on Sunday morning, with PSV now expected to pay around €9 million for the highly rated midfielder.

Ouaissa still has to complete his medical examination before PSV can formally complete the transfer. Once that is done, he is expected to sign a long-term contract with PSV running until mid-2031.

The deal was only finalised after further talks were held over the weekend. NEC director Wilco van Schaik visited the Philips Stadion on Saturday for negotiations, with his presence even spotted and discussed on the PSV 1913 forum.

Ouaissa's arrival could be one of several moves completed by PSV in the final days of the transfer window.

The club is also working on a return for Sam Lammers from FC Twente, with that transfer reportedly progressing well and potentially capable of being finalised shortly.

PSV are simultaneously negotiating with Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt over 17-year-old striker Mikkel Bro Hansen. Talks for the Danish talent remain ongoing, with PSV hoping to reach an agreement over a multi-million-euro transfer fee.

Another player expected to arrive is Ayoni Santos from Sparta. That deal is not yet completely finalised, although negotiations are understood to be progressing well.

There could even be another surprise before the window closes.

While PSV are strengthening, departures are also taking shape.

Joël van den Berg is expected to leave Eindhoven after Celtic made an offer for the 19-year-old. The Scottish club could pay around €4 million if they complete the transfer in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the situations surrounding Dennis Man and Kiliann Sildillia have also attracted attention. Both players will miss Sunday's match against FC Utrecht, although their absence is due to fitness rather than transfer developments.

Man is now unlikely to leave PSV, while the club has rejected the possibility of loaning Sildillia despite interest from abroad.

There is also some activity surrounding Esmir Bajraktarevic, although no club has yet submitted a formal offer for the winger.

Ouaissa's impending arrival underlines how active PSV have become in the closing stages of the transfer window.

The club is now working on at least three further incoming deals alongside Ouaissa: Lammers appears close, Santos is progressing with some reservations remaining, and negotiations for Bro Hansen are continuing.
