PSV have agreed a new contract with Director of Football Affairs Earnest Stewart, extending the American's stay at the Eindhoven club until mid-2030.

Stewart's previous agreement was due to expire in the summer of 2027. The new deal represents a further commitment to the sporting structure that has overseen a highly successful period for PSV since his arrival.

The 57-year-old joined PSV as Director of Football Operations on March 1, 2023. Since then, the club have won three national titles, one KNVB Cup and two Johan Cruijff Shields.

Stewart has also played an important role in the development of PSV's wider football operation. The club have made significant progress in scouting, youth development and women's football, with PSV Women winning their first national championship.

Three years ago, Stewart was also instrumental in bringing Peter Bosz to Eindhoven as head coach.

Stewart was quick to stress that PSV's achievements have been the result of collective work rather than the efforts of one individual.

“But of course, everything happens in close collaboration with our other three board members,” the 101-time U.S. international is quick to add. “I also think that’s PSV’s strength right now: the short lines of communication, the excellent collaboration among us. We’re still building, both the team and the rest of the club.”

The American said he was pleased to continue that work for another several years.

“I’m very happy and grateful that I get to be a part of that for even longer. We want to remain the stable club we are now, with a deep and strong roster every year that can compete for titles. We’ve succeeded in doing that so far, and I’m fully confident that we can continue to do so.”

General Manager Marcel Brands welcomed the extension and highlighted Stewart's football knowledge and character.

“With his football expertise, composure, integrity, and experience, Earnest has made a significant contribution to the sporting successes we have achieved together,” said Brands. “At the same time, he is someone who always seeks collaboration and puts the common good first.”

Brands believes maintaining continuity within the club's leadership is central to PSV's continued progress.

“It is precisely this close collaboration between management, staff, and the rest of the organization that forms the foundation of where PSV stands today. We are therefore very pleased that Earnest is committing to the club for the long term. Continuity in key positions is important for continuing the progress we’ve made and for remaining a consistent contender for titles in the future.”

Stewart's new contract comes as PSV continue to benefit from a stable leadership structure. Brands has already extended his own contract until mid-2029, while Commercial Director Frans Janssen, who has been at the club since 2017, and Financial Director Jaap van Baar, in his role since 2021, also provide continuity.

Bosz, meanwhile, has been at PSV since 2023 and recently extended his contract until mid-2028.

The club's financial position has strengthened considerably during this period. As reported by PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV reported positive equity of €48 million last year, while qualification for the Champions League and almost €100 million in player sales have put the 2026-27 financial year on course for another strong result.

The contract extension comes immediately after a hectic transfer window. Stewart and Brands completed four signings during the final days of the market, following four earlier arrivals.

Stewart spent just under €50 million on transfer fees in total, while the loan of Lutsharel Geertruida and the two-year deal for Filip Kostić also represented significant commitments.

Now the focus turns to the season ahead. PSV are targeting a fourth consecutive league title, success in the KNVB Cup and progression through the Champions League league phase.

Bosz must integrate the new arrivals into his squad, with the first major test coming on Saturday when PSV travel to face Ajax.
