The Packers kick off their 2026 season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Sept. 13, from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Talk about pressure. The Vikings are certainly in a transitional place as a franchise, but getting going against an NFC North foe ratchets up the intensity of this season from the get-go.
It's a big season for the Packers. There's a belief that they're in a Super Bowl window right now, which means every single game is important. That means the intensity will be there in Week 2 at MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets and it will certainly be there in Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons, when the Packers will play at Lambeau Field for the first time in 2026.
There's going to be a lot of proverbial ink spilled on this 2026 season and we here at PackersRoundtable hope that you spend as much time as possible with us talking about the ins and outs and ups and downs of the Packers.
As we prepare for the 2026 season, though, we're going to kick things off with a rankings series looking at the Top 50 Packers heading into the 2025 season.
At No. 17, we have cornerback Keisean Nixon

After all, he came into training camp as the Packers' de facto No. 1 cornerback and he got a Pro Bowl nod last season. He was also second in the league in pass breakups last season with 13.
On paper, Nixon looks like one of the best players on this team.
The "eye test" is a different story, though.
Nixon is overly aggressive as a cornerback, which leads to him getting beat more often than it leads to him making a big play. He's also aggressive after the whistle. You can't blame a guy at a position like cornerback for being brash and confident. Much like at wide receiver, you need those two traits to play the game at a high level in this league.
With that said, Nixon lost the Packers multiple yards last season due to stupid penalties after the whistle. He's also been known to make "business decisions" when it comes to physicality against the run.
Nixon is a candidate to become a locker room cancer in 2026 as rookie cornerback Brandon Cisse threatens to become the best cornerback on this team. While taking reps with the second team in training camp, Nixon said he believes the Packers are punishing him.
The truth is, Nixon is a CB3 at best, masquerading as a CB1 because of bad decisions and bad luck at cornerback by general manager Brian Gutekunst.
While he does have talent, he can't be trusted.
2025 Synopsis:
Nixon played 1,014 snaps for the Packers in 2025, so he was one of their main players. He recorded 62 solo tackles, 13 passes broken up and one interception.
Per PFF, Nixon allowed a 105.2 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks when targeted and he gave up 50 receptions in coverage. He was second in the league in passes broken up but 66th in yards per reception allowed (11.4).

2026 Projection:
Nixon may start the season as a player in the starting lineup but there's a world where the rookie, Cisse, quickly becomes the Packers' CB1 and they trust Benjamin St-Juste more than they do Nixon. If he's relegated to being a rotational player, will Nixon accept his fate or will he revolt?
